Its Mental Illness Awareness Week from October 4-10, 2015Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is an annual national public education campaign designed to help open the eyes of Canadians to the reality of mental illness. I'd love to hear from folks who are developing or implementing a mental health awareness activity in their workplace - what are you doing or have you done in the past? Thanks in advance for sharing!

Here at ASEBP we regularly offer Mental Health First Aid workshops to all the staff. It's a great way to learn the signs of mental illness and offer ways to help out.

Last week's blog post for Mental Health Week, Time to Disable the Label, brought to light the truths behind many common myths related to mental illness. In particular I appreciate how it highlighted some of the common language used in the media that trivializes mental illness.

It is important to be mindful of the language we use to avoid perpetuating the stigma surrounding mental illness.
