You may have seen the meme that goes along the lines of, “when you thought everything would be easy peasy, lemon squeezy but it’s actually difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.” While it’s funny, it’s also a great explanation for why we sometimes give up on our goals. A new year is the perfect time to embrace opportunities and shake things up. That said, when we realize things are tougher than we thought, it can be tempting to give up rather than push through. If you’re finding that reaching your goal is a bit more 'lemon difficult' than you expected, The Sandbox is here to help.
Plan, Plan and Plan Some More
Quite possibly the biggest obstacle to successfully reaching a goal is a lack of proper planning. When you’re brainstorming a new initiative, preparation is key. Thankfully, Sandbox blogger, Jennifer Carson, has some great tips to help you bring your ideas to life.
Mind Over Matter
During trying times we can be our own worst enemy. But, as Lorna Muise with Alberta Health Services points out, keeping an open mind will help you get through any slump. Just keep focusing on what you and your team are hoping to achieve. If you ever need a little extra reminder, this new wellness poster series offers some great visuals that will keep wellness on your radar.
Give Yourself a Pat on the Back
Whether you’ve checked off all the boxes or not, you’ve made an effort, and that’s something! As ASEBP’s own Gillian Woroniuk says, a change, no matter how small, is cause for celebration. If you’re feeling really excited about what you’ve achieved, why not share it on The Sandbox forum so you can celebrate with other wellness champions too? There’s a good chance your success could be someone’s source of inspiration.
Just remember that even though things may turn sour sometimes, if you keep working toward what you’re trying to achieve, the end result will be pretty sweet.
